Paying your January tax liability on your credit card? This method of payment is about to be withdrawn….

HM Revenue and Customs have announced that they will no longer be accepting personal credit card payments from 13 January 2018.

This announcement has come about following the EU Payment Services Directive 2 which comes into force on the same day. This directive prohibits all merchants from recharging associated fees back to their customers.

HMRC has decided that continuing to accept credit cards would be an unacceptable cost to the public purse.

Please be aware that business, corporate and commercial credit cards are not affected by this change.

In a separate announcement HM Revenue and Customs also announced that taxpayers will no longer be able to pay at the post office as they are withdrawing the Transcash service from 15 December 2017.

If you would like more information on the above, or need assistance with alternative means of payment, please contact the office on 01844 260111.
